I am a resident of D2 and I strongly support the immediate extension of the eviction moratorium in the interest of public health, safety and stability for all Oakland residents. This action is critical and constituents are watching. I am urging you to extend the eviction moratorium, pass the Tenant Protection Upgrades, and protect workers by passing the Right to Recall ordinance

I am writing to urge you to immediately extend Oakland's eviction moratorium until the state of emergency is lifted. Experts warn of a tsunami of evictions due to COVID-19. Like the pandemic and the police violence, communities of color will bear the brunt of the crisis. Housing keeps us safe, not the police. Will you defund OPD, extend the Eviction Moratorium, and pass the Tenant Protection Upgrades?

I am a District 1 resident in Oakland. I fully support this extension of the emergency eviction moratorium to protect Oakland residents during the COVID19 crisis, and I generally support the strengthening of tenant protections to protect our city's most vulnerable residents in the midst of our extended housing crisis.

I am a resident of District 2 and I urge you to extend this eviction moratorium without hesitation. There's no doubt that communities of color who are disproportionately suffering during this pandemic, will also be those who are most harmed if evictions are allowed to proceed.

Extending the moratorium is the least the City of Oakland can do to mitigate the housing crisis that was already extreme before this pandemic turned the world upside down.

Oakland resident of District 1. I strongly support this extension. Housing is a right and Oakland must do everything in its power to protect all its residents so that they can have safe, stable housing, both during and after the COVID crisis.

I urge all council members to immediately pass further protections for Oakland residents and prevent booming homelessness in Oakland by extending the moratorium on residential evictions until the Covid-19 Crisis has passed. Millions of renters have lost income, can't pay rent and are at risk of eviction. Living in a city where housing is already unaffordable combined with loss of income makes this issue incredibly important. Please support our residents and pass this extension today.

City Council must Defund OPD by adopting Kaplan/Bas's cuts of at least an additional 11.4M and reimagine public safety. They must also extend the Eviction Moratorium until at least the end of the local state of emergency, pass the Tenant Protection Upgrades, and protect workers by passing the Right to Recall ordinance.

Protecting our communities, and not corporate, capitalistic interests should be the foremost priority of any officials who have decided to enter government positions. Please remember your oath to serve the people, both those who helped elect you, as well as those who did not, and immediately extend the moratorium on evictions during the current Covid-19 Pandemic.

Pleasure support the emergency eviction moratorium extension. This is a vulnerable time for us all, and we already have too many people living on the street. If landlords evict now, they are only shooting themselves in the foot -- as those people may never come back, and no on come to replace them.

Renters are in a great deal of trouble right now if we take away or fail to extend this eviction moratorium. I live in district 5, I am in an artist warehouse loft filled with working class artists. Many of us work in the festival/entertainment industry and have suffered major financial hardship. Myself included. We are in rent control court proceedings with our building owners. We are also in a civil case against our building owners for numerous habitability issues. The city has favored landlords and building owners/developers over renters for far too long. Renters are struggling right now. We shouldn't have to choose between our homes and food. Many too scared to legally withhold their rent have already been displaced from my building. Please, let's stop this from continuing and lend some help to the artists and working class of Oakland. Let's keep Oakland's beautiful creative, entrepreneurial culture intact. Please extend the eviction moratorium until the end of the local state emergency. Please pass the Tenant Protection Upgrades. Please fully divest the police from OSD and reallocate the funds to programs to help low income families and our unhoused populations. Thank you

My name is Allegra Medina-Smith, I live in district 2 and I strongly encourage the city council to support the eviction moratorium at least through the end of this year. I also encourage you all to discuss rent forgiveness and rent payment plans that benefit the renters not landlords and to look into and find ways for renters to combat the illegal eviction practices and intimidation happening right now from landlords in Oakland.
