Oakland city counsel, you have a duty to represent your constituents. The people of Oakland stand with Palestine in demanding a permanent ceasefire. Humanity is being to denied to the people of Palestine and Isreal is enacting an unrelenting and vicious genocide against mothers, daughters, sisters, brothers and fathers. How can we stand idly by and watch? I refuse to, and I hope Oakland city counsel follows me, and all the people of Oakland demanding we speak up. If we let hate and genocide to continue overseas they will come for us next. What they do to others can be done to us. Choose love. Choose humanity. Only love can win. And oakland is LOVE. If you claim to represent this beautiful city and vote against this or remain neutral you are MORALLY BANKRUPT and should consider reawakening your heart and humanity. Free Palestine! Ceasefire now!

I am an Oakland resident and I support this resolution to call for a ceasfire in Gaza. I urge my council members to show that they stand against genocide. As Americans we are funding the genocide of Palestinians, as entire families are killed. Babies are left as the only surviving members of their family. Children are searching for the remains of their parents under the rubble. Thousands are trapped under the rubble as we speak, waiting to die or hoping to be saved. This is genocide and to say otherwise is ignorant and violent. Be on the right side of history and support this resolution. I will rally my community to vote you out of the council if you do not support this.

Please vote to affirm this resolution. We need an immediate and permanent ceasefire to help put an end to the occupation in Gaza and the genocide of Palestinian people. The displacement and death toll since 10/7 has already surpassed the Nakba. When we look back and ask ourselves how could we have let this happen again, let Oakland be on the right side of history. Everyone’s liberation is bound together with Palestinian liberation.

I fully support Resolution 23-0935 proposed by Councilmember Fife. This resolution, affirming Oakland's commitment to the 'Love Life' ethos and calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, is not only a moral imperative but also a testament to our community's dedication to global peace and humanity. The escalating violence in Gaza demands urgent international attention, and Oakland's voice in this matter exemplifies our city's values of compassion and global solidarity. This action reflects the best of Oakland's spirit, standing with those in need of support and advocating for a world where every life is valued and protected.

As a constituent of Oakland, I urge you to vote YES in passing the resolution for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. We are witnessing an active genocide/ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and we will not stay silent. Ceasefire now and free Palestine!

I support an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Palestine/ Gaza. As our representatives, you must listen to the people of Oakland / Huichin Ohlone Land when we say you should support the END of the Israeli Occupation of Palestine. No more U.S. aid to Israel. No more bloodshed! No more bombs! No more white phosphorus gas attacks! From the river to the sea, Palestine WILL BE FREE.

While most of us had calm and nourishing Thanksgiving holidays, Gazans continued to die at alarming numbers. As a longtime resident of Oakland and a proud Bay Area resident, I know that Oakland has been the vanguard for justice and liberation for many peoples. Today, continuing this legacy of standing on the right side of history means supporting the resolution for an immediate and true ceasefire, not just 4 days.

For comments that oppose supporting this resolution because "this isn't what we elected our officials for," I couldn't disagree more. When there is a genocide happening on a people anywhere, is it the matter of the entire world. Especially Oakland and any U.S. city because our government is—against its people's demands—funding and sending weapons to this genocide. So yes, this is unquestioningly a matter of Oakland city council and every city council in the United States.

Do not let some people's calls to condemn Hamas COMPLICATE OR DELAY THIS NECESSARY CALL FOR CEASEFIRE. There would be much to discuss should we be able to move into diplomatic solutions AFTER A SUSTAINING CEASEFIRE happens. To keep Palestinians and Israelis safe, we must dismantle the terrorist group that is the Israeli apartheid state.

    Ceasefire now, ceasefire permanently.
