CEASEFIRE NOW. Twenty thousand people are killed. Eight thousand children have been murdered by the state of Israel on our dime. We have a moral imperative to call for a ceasefire. End the occupation. Free Palestine from the river to the sea. NO genocide. NO ethnic cleansing. NO occupation. FREE PALESTINE. How can you, the elected officials of Oakland, possibly be against calling for an end to slaughter?

Oakland says no to genocide! I urge the city council to pass this resolution immediately.

I am a 10-year Oakland resident and active voter in District 2.
I support the resolution without amendments.
I do not support amending the resolution to include language condemning Hamas.
There would be no Hamas without the genocide Israel has committed against Palestine since 1948.

A ceasefire is pro-terrorist. Don’t support this nice-sounding but misguided measure.

As a proud Jewish Oakland resident, I strongly support a permanent ceasefire. Our collective liberation depends on the liberation of Palestine. This is an Oakland issue. We as a city must stand firm in our opposition to a US backed genocide of Palestinians. PALESTINE WILL BE FREE!

As a human with basic empathy and resident of Oakland, I support a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. I am sick of our tax dollars funding genocide in the name of national security. I hope this city does the right thing.

I am a resident of D4 on unceded Ohlone land, and I strongly support this resolution to urgently call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and an immediate end to Israel's siege and occupation across Palestine. We should be doing all we can to end this genocide. I urge all council members to vote yes to pass this resolution and urge our government to negotiate an immediate ceasefire and end all military aid to Israel.

As a proud Jewish Oakland resident, I cannot overstate how imperative it is for us as a city to make clear our support for a permanent ceasefire. We as a city cannot continue to tacitly support this genocide. Fight for the innocent, fight for the occupied--affirming our support for an immediate and permanent ceasefire is the least we can do. Not a temporary ceasefire, a permanent one. PALESTINE WILL BE FREE!

Feel free to use any if helpful:
    Dear Town Council Members:
I am writing to implore you to please vote NO on the ceasefire resolution.

    A few points:
    1) Israel/Palestinians WERE in a ceasefire. Hamas broke it yet again on 10/7/2023.
    2) Israel 100% pulled out of Gaza in 2005.
    3) Israel was attacked by all 5 surrounding neighbors in 1948. Attacked again in 1967. Israel won both wars gaining land. Israel returned that land in exchange for peace.
    4) Hamas' charter: Kill all Jews. Not a 2-state solution. Exterminate Jews... In Israel first and then beyond Israel.
    5) Hamas attacked Israel - civilians NOT the military 10/7/2023
    6) What if Canada's ruling party's charter was to kill all Americans? Every one of them? And then they tried? Hamas just slaughtered the equivalent of 50,000 Americans. I'm not going to repeat the grotesque, unthinkable details- we know them by now.
    7) Cease fire means a build up of ammunitions and strategy for terrorists who will then continue their cause more armed and ready. Kill every Jew.

PLEASE see this video from a senior Hamas official: "We Will Repeat the October 7 Attack Time and Again Until Israel Is Annihilated" https://twitter.com/i/status/1719662664090075199

WHERE is the outcry condemning Hamas? They are using their own Palestinians as human shields. They are murdering their own people with a large % of their own missiles backfiring (including the hospital). They are hoarding water/fuel/electricity.
I ask you to please VOTE NO.

I’m here today as one of the many millions of people in this country to ask for a and am in support of a ceasefire now.

Because the night before last Oakland City council meeting - 1500 people were murdered in 24 hours in Gaza by air strikes - meaning we don’t have time.

That’s 62.5 people murdered every hour.
That’s the demographic we’re working with.

No one is asking you to say “free Palestine”.
(Members of the community will say it for you.)
But we are asking you for a “ceasefire now”

    Richmond did it

a simple answer for you guys would be just copying Richmond’s resolution.

It doesn’t have to take a crazy amount of time.
That’s a phone call and an email or and some signatures.

It shouldn’t be up for debate to save lives.
“Ceasefire now” “Ceasefire now” “Ceasefire now”

I am a Jewish teacher working in OUSD schools. Oakland should and must join the list of cities passing resolutions that speak out against Israel's genocidal and imperialist campaign against Gaza and all Palestinians. A city with a commitment to "Loving Life" cannot stand by in silence as 20,000 people are murdered and millions are displaced. This resolution must be amended to acknowledge the current "pause" and distinguish a 4-day pause from total ceasefire, especially when that pause has been disregarded and disrespected by Israeli armed militias in the West Bank. This resolution should also call out and reject the U.S. role in supporting, financing, and enabling Israel's war crimes.

As a Jewish person who's been proud to call Oakland home for over 20 years, I urge the council to pass this resolution and to join calls for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. I deeply appreciate that the resolution affirms all life is precious, and I believe it is in squarely line with the principle of B'Tselem Elohim, that all people are created in the divine image. Tens of thousands of people across the Bay Area from all walks of life have been organizing to demand a ceasefire, including many of us Jewish Oaklanders who have vociferously protested the state of Israel's collective punishment and unfolding genocide against the people of Gaza. Oakland's City Council should honor the clear will of the public, with the majority of voters nationwide supporting a ceasefire, as should also back-up the leadership set Rep. Barbara Lee with her sponsorship of HR 786.

As a proud Oakland resident, as someone who believes in defending human life, human rights, and opposes racist valuing of lives differently, I strongly urge the Oakland City Council to support calls for an immediate and lasting ceasefire. I don't want our beautiful cit complicit, through the taxes we pay, in war crimes and genocide. Ceasefire NOW.

I'm a Jew that recently moved for a job in Oakland. I've been overwhelmed and touched by all of the beautiful and passionate social justice movements, protests, and actions to show support for Palestinians. The council should reflect the desires of the people of Oakland, and support a ceasefire as its first action to support Palestinians.

What is happening in Gaza right now is a genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. Ceasefire NOW and stop this genocide and this act against humanity.

There is no acceptable choice but to end there Palestinian ethic cleansing now. There is a genocide underway. Everyone knows it. Our tax dollars are financing it. We have more power to stop it than any other government in the world. That means we have more responsibility to act now than any other government. As my elected official i expect you to listen to the voice of the majority of your constituency and demand a permanent cease fire now.
