Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Amending Resolution No. 87759 C.M.S., Which Adopted The City Of Oakland's Fiscal Year 2019-21 Biennial Budget, To Make Mid-Cycle Budget Adjustments To: (1) Fiscal Year 2020-21 General Purpose Fund Revenue Projections; (2) Fiscal Year 2020-21 General Purpose Fund Appropriations; And (3) Fiscal Year 2020-21 Non-General Purpose Fund Revenue Projections And Appropriations
I'm encouraged the city has begun to seriously contend with civilianizing OPD positions, saving other departments from labor concessions, and funding programs like MACRO. However, there is still more to be done. I would like my Council Member Dan Kalb to work with Council Members Bas, Kaplan and others to continue pushing Budget Director Benson and Mayor Schaff to craft a budget which complies with the demands of Oakland to reimagine public safety without over-policing, starting now. This will be a voting issue for many of us in November.
