Recommendation: Adopt An Ordinance Amending The Salary Schedule Of Ordinance No. 12187 C.M.S. ("Salary Ordinance") To: (A) Add The Full-Time Classification Of Parking Administrator; And (B) Add The Full-Time Classification Of Constitutional Policing Administrator; And (C) Add The Full-Time Classification Of Assistant Director, Human Services; And (D) Amend The Salary Of The Full-Time Classification Of Neighborhood Law Corps Attorney
West Oakland needs a new library to replace those two which the City closed in 1950 and 1981. In explaining the closure of the North Oakland branch, authorities referred to changes in the neighborhood’s “character”, and falsely claimed that the area was “not a reading neighborhood," in other words that Black people do not read. Wow! Thanks to the Friends of Hoover Durant Public Library and the community, a new library is now in the works. I fully support this agenda item.
