I don't like sitting through extremely long meetings either but that's what happens when the council shows a willingness to try and subvert democratic norms and ram through proposals that go against the will of constituents and the public good.

There is no honest consideration of this proposal that doesn't consider the broader context of the recent agenda items (Flock and EAP) that have required massive public pushback because they are bad policy. Vote no on this change that would hurt democratic participation in city governance.

I'm a resident of District 2. I strongly urge you to reject this amendment, which will just make public participation in meetings more difficult. The fact that you're even considering it is extremely concerning given the antidemocratic nature of the language. Please vote no!

I am a resident of China Town downtown.
This will make public participation more difficult, please no not pass. This is very disappointing and undemocratic and you should be ashamed for even considering no.

I am a D4 resident. Why are you trying to make it even more difficult for the people of Oakland to participate in, witness, and make public comment during city council meetings? This proposed rule change is just another attempt to dodge transparency and shirk your duty to your actual constituents. Enough!
