5.29 26-0289 Subject: Bay Area Air District's Zero Emission Building Appliance Rules

Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution In Support Of The Bay Area Air District's Timely Implementation Of Rules 9-4 And 9-6 That Establish Zero-Emission Building Appliance Standards, With Appropriate Flexibility To Ensure Equity And Business Development
I am writing on behalf of the SPUR (the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association) in support of this resolution and the Bay Area Air District rules 9-4 and 9-6, with common-sense amendments that will provide flexibility to Bay Area residents based on space and electrical constraints as well as income. Thank you to Oakland City Council for your leadership in support of these rules, which will save lives and improve Oakland's air quality.
I support Councilmember Wang's sponsorship and the staff report by Shayna Hirshfield-Gold. This action is an important part of Oakland's Equitable Climate Action Plan (ECAP)
