5.20 26-0179 Subject: A Feasibility Study For A Potential San Antonio Bart Station
From Councilmember Wang
Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Expressing The City Of Oakland's Support For A San Antonio Bart Station And Calling On The Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) To Conduct A Feasibility Study
I strongly support building a bart station in our neighborhood. As a lifelong user of bart, transit access has shaped my school life and my current career as a teacher.
Thank you council member Charlene for supporting this station!
I want to express my strong support for the feasibility study for the proposed San Antonio BART Station. This project represents an important step toward making our city’s transit system more equitable, accessible, and forward-looking.
I’d also like to thank Councilmember Charlene Wang for her leadership and vision in championing this resolution. Her commitment to improving transit options for East Oakland residents demonstrates the kind of thoughtful, community-centered leadership we need.
On a personal note, this station would make a real difference in my daily life. I work 9 miles away and having an accessible bart rail line would make my commute easier. My office is near a bart station and this would reduce my travel time.
The benefits of this project are wide-reaching as it would create jobs and signal investment in our community’s future. It would revitalize a corridor that desperately needs attention and uplift a community.
