Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Amending Resolution No. 90827 C.M.S, Which Adopted The City Of Oakland Biennial Budget For Fiscal Years 2025-27, To Reallocate Funding From The General Purpose Fund, Non-Departmental To Add One (1.0) Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Cultural Affairs Manager Position In The Economic & Workforce Development Department As Set Forth In Exhibit 1
As a resident of District 1, I would like to express my strong support for restoring the Cultural Affairs manager position. I really value Oakland's arts and culture and think it's an area that really brings our city to life. I would like to see increased investment in Oakland's cultural programs and partnerships, including a coordinated effort by the City Council to support our local artists and cultural organizations. Especially when our diversity is under attack, this demonstrates an investment in Oakland's future as a cultural and creative leader in the Bay Area. Thank you Councilmember Rowena Brown for bringing this commitment to the table and I look forward to staying connected on Oakland's involvement in arts and culture!
