Oakland needs to nominate 3 council members to the Oakland AC Transit Interagency Liaison Committee .
The Oakland AC Transit Interagency Liaison Committee has not met since December, 2024, due to lack of CMs on the committee
AC Transit board president Shar has repeatedly requested CMs for Oakland AC Transit Interagency Liaison Committee.
Please start the committee immediately.
Here are a few items which the committee can address:
1. Continue to reduce fatalities and severe injuries on International, and perhaps other street which have bus routes
2. Consider whether allowing heavy trucks on International Blvd will affect the Tempo line
3. Investigate using AC Transit's HaydenAI cameras to ticket vehicles parked in bike lanes adjacent to bus routes. This would follow the lead of the city of Sacramento which is using SacRT cameras.
4. Look at policies regarding transit shelters and benches, and install shelters and benches. Advertising contracts have dried up for shelters and benches, which used to be under AC Transit purview. The city of Oakland is taking on the shelters and benches. Oakland has not yet started with benches, and is allowing backless benches to go in, even though it does not follow AC Transit policy. Backless benches may be uncomfortable or even dangerous for seniors and persons with disabilities
