Recommendation: Adopt An Ordinance (1) Amending Oakland Municipal Code 10.48.010 To Increase Fines For Parking Citations Consistent With Previous City Council Direction; (2) Adopting A Fine Of $40 For California Vehicle Code 22500(N) In Support Of Daylighting; (3) Amending Oakland Municipal Code 10.48.010 Consistent With Oakland Ordinance 12607; (4) Amending Oakland Municipal Code 10.48.010 To Resolve Inconsistencies Between Oakland Municipal Code 10.48.010, The Oakland Municipal Code And The California Vehicle Code And (5) Adopting Appropriate California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Findings
I am in favor of eventual enforcement for daylighting parking violations, yet I don't think there has been any outreach to the public, and there are not markings for this violation in most locations. San Francisco implemented a warning period for this violation and this body implemented a similar warning period for the new Lake Merritt meters. I suggest you do so for this, as well as a public outreach campaign.
