Recommendation: Conduct A Public Hearing And Upon Conclusion Adopt An Ordinance Amending Ordinance No. 13799 C.M.S. (Which Adopted The Fiscal Year 2024-25 Master Fee Schedule), As Amended, To Establish, Modify And Delete Fees And Penalties Assessed By The City Of Oakland For Fiscal Year 2025-26
Please continue to support the Oakland Rent Adjustment Program (RAP). RAP provides critical (and free) services to Oakland’s tenants and landlords. As a member of the Oakland Tenants Union who has benefited from RAP, I know the incalculable value of this program.
RAP provides needed services like mediation, petitions to address grievances, and free housing counseling. RAP even launched the Rent Registry Portal, a place where tenants can easily check important information about their units, like whether they have rent control. All of this keeps Oakland residents in safe housing with predictable rent increases, allowing Oaklanders to stay housed and build community in this city.
OTU also believes that the RAP fee should be paid entirely by landlords as a cost of doing business.
