The delay for selling Measure U bonds has already paused deployment of crucial traffic safety measures. Please sell Measure U bonds this summer so OakDOT’s street paving and safety improvements can continue!

Oakland voters voted yes on Measure U to support $290M for repaving and street safety improvements. Further delay means more lives risked, worsening conditions to repair, paving will pause.

Measure U bonds must be sold, and the DOT must be properly funded ($100M), ASAP. Measure U was supported by over 75% of voters. We are paying our taxes, and we want to see the Measure U funds put to use without delay.

Oakland has a severe street safety crisis, with over 30 deaths a year due to traffic violence. Simply crossing the street with my family is often dangerous with speeding, reckless drivers. Delaying Measure U funded street safety improvements will directly cause more deaths, and lead to increased costs due to cash settlements and rising construction costs. Street safety can not wait!

Measure U is the will of the voters. We voted for it and so it's on city staff to implement that and make our streets safer for all.

Voters overwhelmingly supported Measure U. There is a clear mandate for safer streets now.
It is essential that these bonds be issued to avoid fatalities and the subsequent compensation for families. Traffic safety is public safety!

In 2022, Oakland voters overwhelmingly approved Measure U, which is the primary funding source for OakDOT’s street paving and safety improvements. We know Oakland’s budget is under strain but waiting is not the answer.

This delay is disastrous. Without this funding:

    Streets will not be repaved.

Planned safety improvements will not go forward.

    Sidewalks will continue to crumble.

The work will get more expensive.

Lives will be upended by traffic violence and Oakland will pay millions in cash settlements to compensate families for their losses.

Voters will be less willing to vote for paving and safety upgrades in the future as they won’t see the results they voted for.

Measure U bonds must be sold, and the DOT to be properly funded ($100M), this summer.

We voted yes on Measure U to support $290M for repaving and street safety improvements. We demand that they happen, now -- as required by the law passed by 75% of Oakland voters!

Why are you putting Oaklanders in a position of having to advocate for something we already overwhelmingly showed up at the ballot for?

I shouldn't have to take time out of my workday to advocate for the city to issue these bonds that we need to make our streets safer. Do what the voters already told you they want you to do.
