Oakland cannot continue approving contract renewals as if we are not in a budget freefall. Initial funding for the declared emergency response contract should NOT come from the Development Service Fund Balance (Fund 2415). It is ironic that disaster response inspection monies for a major federally declared disaster is being elevated over preventing such a disaster. If the contracts cannot be paid for by the requesting applicants, the projects should be delayed. The funding at issue in this agenda item alone could cover the $5M additional funds needed to close the fire department gap. Open our firestations.
