Recommendation: Receive An Oral Report From The City Administrator On The Mayor's Executive Order On Fully Executing The Encampment Management Policy, Including Information On Which Locations Have Been Identified, Associated Timeline For Closures, The Determining Factors For The Selection Of Sites, The Plan For Inter-Departmental Coordination, And What Shelter And Services Will Be Offered To Unhoused Individuals
Evictions aren't a solution. See homeless advocacy working group's proposal for co-governed settlements. Use vacant lots for safe living sites with upgraded living conditions. Overnight congregate shelters do not accommodate disabilities and are not adequate. EMT abuses power, has arrested journalists and front line service providers. oversight and accountability for encampment operations needed.
Strongly oppose against the means in which the EMP is being executed. Amauri is not to be trusted and the EMP is reporting blatant lies. There is little outreach, care, or dignity in their execution style and the EMP needs to have a thorough investigation about whether their methods of sweeping are in fact legal in accordance with Safe Work Zone or humane.
