Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Confirming The Mayor's Reappointments Of Andreas Cluver And Arabella Martinez As Members Of The Board Of Port Commissioners
We urge the appointment to the Port Board of someone with public health, environmental, and environmental justice expertise. Given the serious public health and climate crises facing Oakland, the Port needs this expertise now more than ever and it is currently sorely lacking. The Port and its freight activity are a major contributor to these crises, particularly in the frontline community of West Oak. We urge the appointment of Fern Uennatornwaranggoon, who has been doing this work in Oakland for years, plus she has the strong support of the West Oak community.
