We love you grandma / Mrs. Earlean Duncan. We will cary you in our hearts and cherish every beautiful memory and life lesson you instilled in us. We know you are 'walking around in heaven' with the Lord and Mama Ollie Coby, Raymond Duncan Sr. and the rest of our loved ones. Rest in power grandma. Shaheed, Janine, Asante, and Jennifer Nkosi.
I deeply appreciate the thoughtful dialogue taking place about the dangerous driving conditions on Golf Links Rd.
I want to wade into this conversation as someone who has become increasingly concerned about the frequent accidents and potential safety hazards due to reckless and irresponsible driving occurring on a daily basis. I am also experiencing immense anxiety regarding my own personal safety as I drive on Golf Links leaving or returning home.
We have been talking about this issue for several years. I recall Council member Reid telling us that calming measures would be instituted by the end of 2023. How many crashes, injuries and deaths will it take for this to be recognized as the emergency that it is?
I agree with Mary, The study has been done, the recommendations have been made, and the funds have been allocated. It is up to us to push this forward.
While I understand that Golf Links has become a major through way for many folks, this convenience does not supersede the safety and well-being of those of us that have no other choice of a route to get home. I have personally had six (6) near miss accidents
in the last three years due to drivers speeding around the curve or running past the stop sign. Folks need to be made to slow down. It is well past time to put in speed bumps and flashing lights.
