Agenda Item
6.22 23-0520 Subject: Board Of Port Commissioners
From: Office Of The Mayor
Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Confirming The Mayor's Appointments Of Jahmese Myers And Stephanie Dominguez Walton As Members Of The Board Of Port Commissioners
Dear Council Members,
Decades ago, PG&E and the City promised to underground power lines in the Oakmore Area. When we moved here in 1989, were told that we were at the top of the undergrounding list, yet thirty-four years later we are still waiting. We understand the needs, and applaud the initiative, of Montclair, but we insist that Oakmore be bundled into this effort.
We are now at the top of the undergrounding list once again, after having been bumped by Piedmont Pines. We fear being bumped again! We have been passed over due to some other area's urgent need, but we also have urgent need. We live in a Very High Fire Hazard Severity (VHFS) zone. Our close proximity to Dimond Canyon, where dead trees and brush abound on public land, and unhoused individuals set fires, accidentally or otherwise, significantly heighten our risk. Please do not ignore these old, repeatedly broken promises. Hear our plea to INCLUDE OAKMORE in immediate undergrounding plans. Don’t forsake us again!
Thank you for your anticipated support.

Don’t Forsake Oakmore again!
