I support an independent investigation into the wrongful and unethical termination of Dr. Sarai Crain. I hope this is a direction to the city, not just an authorization that they aren't obligated to follow through on.

Dr. Crain's termination has diminished the hope and confidence I had when I learned that the City of Oakland had designed a high-ranking position dedicated to centering the experience of victims and survivors gender-based violence. The fact that this position has been eliminated entirely gives a clear message that the City Administrator and DVP's current positional leadership do not understand or value the experience of gender-based violence. White supremacist patriarchy is still dominant within the City's government.

Hello, my name is Rachel Farahbakhsh and I support agenda item 3.10, which will hopefully provide more context into the wrongful and unethical termination of Dr. Sarai Crain.
I am concerned by the statement issued by City Administrator Ed Reiskin as it makes clear that he does not take seriously the issues of equity, discrimination, harassments, or gender-based violence within City Government. The City Administrator did not seek to resolve the issues raised by this capable Black feminist leader but supported her unethical, retaliatory, and wrongful termination.

Dr. Crain's wrongful termination sends a clear message that white supremacist patriarchy is still dominant within the City's government and that toxic male positional leaders will protect their own. I hope this investigation will provide answers for this body, the residents, and allies of Oakland who expect transparency and accountability. I support and believe Dr. Crain and other Black women who experience abuse and discrimination at the hands of this government.

My name is Ginna Brelsford, here in support of agenda item 3.10 the Independent Investigation of the Inequities Within City Administration, which will provide more context into the wrongful and unethical termination of Dr. Sarai Crain.

This termination has raised significant issues of equity, discrimination, harassment and gender-based violence within City leadership. The City Administrator did not seek to resolve the issues raised by this capable Black feminist leader but supported her unethical, retaliatory, and wrongful termination.

Dr. Crain's termination has diminished the hope and confidence we had when we learned that the City of Oakland had designed a high-ranking position dedicated to centering the experience of victims and survivors gender-based violence, particularly women, girls, & gender nonconforming people of color. The fact that this position has been eliminated altogether gives a clear message that the City Administrator and DVP's current positional leadership do not understand or value the experience of gender-based violence.

Dr. Crain's wrongful termination sent a clear message that white supremacy is still dominant within the City of Oakland's government and that toxic male positional leaders will protect themselves and each other to the detriment of women of color in the department and in Oakland. I unequivocally support and believe Dr. Sarai Crain and other Black women who have experienced abuse and discrimination at the hands of this government.
