Going over the report, I can't believe that the City is willing to pay over $700,000 to get this work done when they got a lower bid and they can sure use the extra money to resolve other going out of control matters around the city. The other contractor failed to comply with the 50% trucking L/SLBE item, that is $12,500. how can the City justify paying $700,000 for a failure of $12,500 with 1 trucking company that probably hires 2-3 Oakland resident truck drivers?? I understand, our Oakland small local companies need to be contracted but with $700,000 the City can have another project done and secure the job for 15 labors for a couple of months and another small local trucking company. Does anyone sees this?? Does it make sense to the hands managing the public works City's budget? No wonder this City is going down the drain!!
