Good morning, my name is Brian Shaw, long-time Oakland resident.

We haven’t just lost teams though, we’ve lost people and other businesses for the same reason. So when Dave Stewart, the man who inspired me as a youth to be great and Lonnie Murray who has always been a force of seeing things through talked to me early-on I had hope that I haven’t had in a while for our City. I was personally involved in this vision, as were other close members across the community.Which was a lot of work and time that a lot of people involved with this Council have tried to hide. I’ve been personally insulted by some of the things said, but none more than this process today.

I have stayed very quiet, as our group was originally asked to do, but this stunt today by Rebecca Kaplan and Noel Gallo should have all of us in Oakland calling them out, especially fellow Council Members. You all unanimously voted on a competitive process, but now two of your members are saying YOUR vote doesn’t matter. We again asked Staff just weeks ago if we were wasting our time and money as we are well aware of Rebecca Kaplan’s unethical practices. Even they could not answer. It’s my understanding that they have already expressed their discontent with what is now happening.
This appears to be a blatant violation of your contracting process, a glaring conflict, it’s unethical, and goes against the councils agreed upon process. As a long-standing contributor to this community, this is a NO.

My name is Angie Tam, a 32 years Oakland resident, and a member of CBE. I strongly support transparency - no backroom negotiation; a community benefits agreement base on racial, social and economic equity, and leasing of the land, not sale. Thank you.
