2.32 20-0749 Subject: Public Ethics Commission Enabling Ordinance
From: Public Ethics Commission
Recommendation: Adopt An Ordinance Amending The "Public Ethics Commission" Enabling Ordinance To Update The Ordinance To Conform With City Charter Section 603, Delete Duplicative Language That Now Appears In The City Charter, And Codify The Commission's Administrative Hearing And Fine Collection Process
Hello, I am an Oakland resident and want to see my Ethics Commission work for me and other members of our City. They
need to do their job by making sure that any current negotiations related to the sale of the Coliseum are transparent. So far we have already had one closed door session. No more non transparent closed door sessions until the end of this negotiation. Bids can be submitted in private envelopes but meeting with developers and any bidders must be made known to the public. We do not want to sell the land we want to lease it. The County already engaged in a non transparent course of action and they sold their half of the land at 2015 prices with no Community agreements. We do not want a land grab/giveaway. We want to maintain ownership for our future, our children and to pass on this generational wealth. We are the stewards of our land, not developers. All negotiations must be ethical going forward and that means full transparency and no more closed door sessions. Our Ethic Committee who works for the People needs to make sure of that. Thank you, Margie Lewis C BE member
