Please move forward with the suspension. The DOT is currently unable to process certificates efficiently and need the break. Communication was sent by the Bridge Association of Realtors to the Department of Transportation regarding updating the online FAQ to reflect the 60-day suspension and that real estate transactions closing this period will not need to comply with the sidewalk certificate program until the property is sold again. This will smooth transition for real estate professionals, homeowners and homebuyers. Unfortunately, the DOT has not responded to the Association's request.

Please suspend this ordinance. Not only is the city unresponsive, the literature online contradictory and confusing, but the ordinance itself causes financial hardship.

In addition, when considering the future of this ordinance, a right to repair ones own sidewalk is crucial! Contractors are confused about the ordinance and no companies will touch these small jobs without huge markup.
