My name is T. I’m from West Oakland. I am from two blocks where Huey P Newton was assassinated. This street name change is long overdue. In this time of reconciling our past, the city of Oakland needs to acknowledge the work of the Black Panther Party which my parents were apart of and pass this ordinance. It would be a shame to continue to ignore the work of black people especially in the historic lower bottoms! Act NOW and change the name of the street.
