Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution In Support Of California State Assembly Bill 1550 (BONTA) To End Discriminatory 911 Calls Based On A Person's Race, Religion, Sex Or Any Other Protected Class By Making Such Calls Hate Crimes And Establishing Civil Liability
I am a D1 resident that fully supports this. Making discriminatory 911 calls should be considered hate crimes and those who make such calls should be held accountable. People in our communities cannot use the police to enact racial and discriminatory violence by calling 911.
My name is Jocelyn Cansino and I live in District 3. I am in full support of making discriminatory 911 calls a hate crime and establishing civil liability.
As a resident of District 3, I strongly support Assembly Bill 1550 and urge the Council to do so too.
