Stop the criminalization of our unhoused neighbors! It is beyond unconscionable that this meeting is being held on zoom while the city knows this isn’t accessible for most unhoused folks. I am opposed to any further sweeps or criminalization of my unhoused neighbors. I suggest we defund the police and use to money to give everyone housing instead of furthering these cycles of displacement and greed and white supremacy!

I represent a group of concerned neighbors along Bellevue and Staten. Our street, which borders the lake/park has been taken over by an agressive encampment of car and van dwellers that is growing daily. While not be as immediately visible as tent dwellers, they actually have tremendous detrimental impact on the area not only for residents of this street but all the visitors to the park. They create extreme noise by playing loud and offensive music from their cars with doors open . They have multiple dogs cooped up in cars or running around unleashed and barking incessantly day and night. They generate piles of garbage, bottles, human and dog waste . They pour urine in our planter boxes. They operate illegal car repair work and double park multiple cars. This is a wildlife/bird sanctuary area and should be protected. This is less than 100 feet from the lake water which we know is becoming a dumping spot for them It is immediately adjacent to the children's playground. Between those that are camped permanently and those day visitors they invite to join them in double parked cars and motorcycles, there is little parking available for the citizens of Oakland to come and enjoy this section of the park which is a designated Historic Neighborhood and has always been a quiet and restful spot . What can we do to help them find a place that they can safely live in their cars that is not directly beneath our windows making it impossible for us to sleep or work from home?
