Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution In Support Of House Resolution 908 Condemning All Forms Of Anti-Asian Sentiment As Related To COVID-19; Reaffirming Oakland's Protection Of Asian American And Pacific Islander Communities; And Recognizing May 2020 As Asian And Pacific Islander Heritage Month
First and foremost, many Oakland residents doesn’t know who the council members are let alone pay attention to council meetings or keep up with when council meetings happen. Many residents don’t have access to the internet so having council meetings at a time where people can’t physically attend seems unfair. You want to help the Asian community? All of you guys get on the morning news and speak because more people pay more attention to the news. My friend told me the SFPD went onto the Asian news channel to speak upon Asians being targets. I respect that.
I know how you can raise the awareness of anti Asian inappropriate behaviors! Instead of talking about it on this council members meeting how about go on a local news Channel like FOX (2), KRON (4), KPIX (5), KGO (7) and address this issue! Have the governor make a statement about this. How it is not the Asians fault the Covid-19 exist. If you care that much do it on a larger scale for all the Asians all over!
