TOPA will not help tenants and will especially hurt legacy African American Mom and Pops. The City of Oakland has no reason to be involved in telling anyone who they may sell their home to! This is a bridge too far.

This city needs balanced leadership to help people achieve true home ownership- not be trapped in your government program scheme. They will not be happy when they learn what this monstrosity you're pedaling really means to them. It sure isn't ownership by any definition.

This is an election year for some of you. Newly “woke” Oaklanders like myself are watching biased activities of certain activist council members, who are attempting to jam through onerous ordinances like TOPA during a state of emergency. Your name will be forever hitched to these outrageous and undemocratic power grabs.
