PLEASE SUPPORT THE ALTERNATIVE COALITION LANGUAGE AND OPPOSE THE CM KALB/GALLO PROVISIONS.
Our broad community Coalition urges the Finance Com. to reject the many filters to exempting owner-occupied SFR owners with ADUs from the Rental "Business" Tax. Please reject AMI limits, room rental limits, 5 yr ownership requirement, 10 yr sunset, and "duplex" ADU 50% restriction. ALLOW FAMILIES TO GET INCOME WITHOUT BECOMING A "BUSINESS". TAX BILLS were sent 2008-15 (despite Director & city website assertions)--remove back billings and liens on our homes!
Everything MUST be done to promote more room rentals, In-Laws, ADU/"Duplexes" as quick, low-cost housing rather than punish these homeowners. S.J. has allocated $100 Million to subsidize ADUs, S.F. exempts approx. $100,000 per unit building fees for the hundreds of ADUs recently approved, and other cities are taking ADU leadership. Meanwhile Oakland takes repeated punitive actions to discourage ADU development & rentals.
