10 16-1139 Subject: Capital Improvement Program (CIP)
From: Oakland Public Works Departments
Recommendation: Receive A Presentation Of Fiscal Year (FY) 2017-19 Proposed Capital Improvement Program (CIP)
I am John Sander of 12th & Pine St, West Oakland.
Concerned about Wood Street from 7th St to Emeryville
The road conditions of Wood Street are deplorable and disastrous to pedestrians, bicyclists and autos. Uneven and random RR tracks in roads with dangerous pits. A telephone pole in the middle of the road at 34th St. No lane striping, curbs or sidewalks and constant trucking activity in a growing residential area.
200 new homes under construction/selling & 400 in the pipeline. Emeryville is soon to pass a project with over 500 homes.
Wood street is used as a thoroughfare from Emeryville to 880 south. Wood Street must be improved ASAP.
Needs to be put on the priority list of the IBond funds (measure KK) for major infrastructure improvements. $22million cost to improve.
Minimal need - $3m for an engineering plan for improvements put in the IBond CIP budget to create a shovel ready project for the next Bond budget round.
