I urge the council to move this item to a vote, and to please make that vote yes. The citizens of our city need to feel secure and their rights protected during this ongoing housing crisis.

Please schedule this for a vote, and please vote yes! The rent control and eviction protections this provides are a very important step toward solving Oakland's ongoing housing affordability crisis.

I urge acceptance of this agenda item - the Protect Oakland Renters Act (item 15) proposed by Oakland residents. The citizens of Oakland, who are 60% renters, need help in these difficult times when people are losing there living situations due to greed, through lack of protections in the regulations.

The renter ballot initiative drafted by and proposed by the Housing organizers, does a good job of inhibiting mass displacement, which is accelerating homeless rates throughout the city of Oakland, and leading to traumatized children seniors and adults exhibiting higher levels of antisocial behaviors, and adverse health effects leading to shorter life spans et al ( NHCS; CDC, Alameda County, HHS etc ) Instead of relegating the issue in a perpetual deliberation to exhaust its viability, this is necessary if the city of Oakland truly is committed to terminating a mass exodus of tenant refugees predicated to security back rental speculative for profit evictions. If Oakland truly is concerned about racial and gender equality this is a must, The NHILC report and the Secretary of HUD'S testimony to congress and how this crisis negatively impacts the US GDP, social and political outcomes we can not trivialize a human rights crisis. Oakland must take the lead in combating this housing issue.
