Recommendation: Adopt A Resolution Authorizing An Exclusive Negotiating Agreement With The County Of Alameda And New City Development LLC For Development Of A Project At The Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Complex And Adjacent City Property
My comment is about this being scheduled as a special meeting. Coliseum City is too important an item to be discussed at 11:30 am on a business day, which limits the ability of the public to attend and comment. City Council has scheduled 5 special meetings in a 3 month period, 1 of which was about the City Budget. (See research documentation: https://oaklandwiki.org/Frequency_of_Special_Meetings). Please discontinue scheduling important city items during times inconvenient for the public.
As a District 2 voter and 32-year resident of the city, I strongly support the city/county negotiating agreement. I hope both entities can go on to muster the creative energy to conclude a deal that retains both our professional sports teams AND brings sorely needed development to the nearby council districts.
